Excursion ‘Achievements of Nuclear Medicine in Routine Oncology Practice’
Radioisotope Diagnostics Unit 2 (PET Unit) is the largest unit of its kind among CIS countries and one of the largest in Europe. The PET Unit synthesizes radiopharmaceuticals that are unique to Russia and conducts preclinical and clinical trials on them together with other units of the oncology centre. The list of radiopharmaceuticals available in the PET Unit of the Blokhin National Medical Research Centre of Oncology is one of the most extensive in the world and can meet almost all the needs of clinical oncology. In addition, the PET Unit and radionuclide therapy units jointly take a theranostic approach to the treatment of a number of malignant neoplasms, in which visualization is an integral part of the patient’s treatment.
Itinerary: Visit to the radiotherapy unit (2nd floor, stairs), Radioisotope Diagnostics Unit 2 in the 1st floor lobby of building A, the cyclotron-radiochemical unit (basement, stairs), the procedure room, and PET/CT control room (1st floor, stairs), and return to the 1st floor lobby.
Excursion participants must have an identity document with them.
