Support Mechanisms for Innovative Solutions: From Idea to Implementation

  • New technologies for people’s health
Innovative solutions are only valuable when they progress from a scientific idea and pilot testing to sustained use in actual clinical practice. This requires clear, coordinated mechanisms for assessing, selecting, introducing, and scaling technologies, drugs, medical devices, digital services, and new organizational models. It is crucial that they all be integrated into clinical guidelines, standards of care, the state guarantee programme, lists of drugs, and regional patient care pathways. At the same time, innovations should be introduced based on evidence of their clinical efficacy and safety, while also taking into account their economic viability, the readiness of healthcare institutions and regions to adopt new solutions, and the ability to objectively evaluate outcomes for both the patient and the healthcare system. How can we establish a transparent pathway for an innovative solution – from its development to integration into practical healthcare? What criteria and mechanisms ensure a balance between the speed of its introduction, the evidence base, safety, and the sustainable use of resources? How should the piloting and subsequent scaling of effective innovations be organized at the regional level?
