Harmonizing approaches to the regulation of the food business within the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) is a key step toward improving public health and eliminating trade barriers within the Eurasian Economic Union. Creating a single market for safe, high-quality food products requires coordination and the harmonization of economic and legal mechanisms. Tax policy is particularly important, since it serves as a key tool for encouraging producers to produce goods that comply with the principles of proper nutrition and healthy foods, as well as for fostering sustainable consumer habits. What state incentive measures that have proven to be effective in international practice could be used to reduce the consumption of products with high levels of salt, sugar, and trans fats? How can CIS member states ensure the mutual recognition of conformity assessment protocols and food labelling systems? What coordinating role could the Eurasian Economic Commission play in developing unified technical regulations and intensifying international cooperation?
