Developing a healthy diet is evolving from a personal choice into a key component of public health policy. Nutrition is the foundation of health, as it provides the body with essential energy, vitamins, and nutrients. Adhering to the principles of a healthy lifestyle helps to manage weight, prevents chronic noncommunicable diseases, and is the foundation for healthy longevity. Today, there is growing professional interest in nutrition and dietary science, which has resulted in the creation of scientifically based recommendations for developing eating habits. Russia’s regions play a special role in implementing public policy, since they create nutrition infrastructure at the regional level, support local producers of high-quality products, and introduce practices that aim to promote a healthy lifestyle among the population. How can we foster the public’s commitment to a healthy lifestyle and proper nutrition? What mechanisms of interagency cooperation are most effective for implementing public policy on proper nutrition at the regional level? What successful practices for promoting a healthy lifestyle can be replicated in other regions of Russia? What measures to support local producers of eco-friendly and high-quality food products have proven effective in various regions of Russia? How are ethnic and cultural specifics and food traditions taken into account when developing regional programmes?
