One of the key conditions for a country to realize its potential and ensure its national security is to have a healthy population. An unhealthy lifestyle is the main cause of the most chronic non-communicable diseases, which in turn lead to the temporary loss of ability to work, disability, and premature mortality. As such, managing risk factors that cause diseases, promoting a healthy lifestyle, and increasing the proportion of citizens who are responsible for their health is a key state goal that is being implemented not only at the level of the healthcare system, but also at the level of other state and public cultural, science, education, and sports institutions. Factors that help maintain and strengthen the health and well-being of the nation include interinstitutional cooperation in introducing practices of a conscious approach to one’s health, supporting initiatives to popularize the values of a healthy lifestyle, educating people about the negative consequences of behavioural risk factors that can lead to the onset of diseases, including bad habits and unbalanced nutrition, as well as raising awareness among citizens about the importance of seeking qualified medical care in a timely manner. What are some of the most effective strategies for minimizing the consequences of a negligent attitude towards one’s health? What educational projects and outreach programmes are successfully being implemented today to develop healthy habits and increase people’s awareness about their own health? How can one independently make the transition to the concept of ‘self-preservation behaviour’?
