Each day, workers in numerous industries are exposed to various risks that could be avoided by introducing new technologies that advance their health and safety. Per the International Labour Organization, roughly 2.3 million people, both men and women, die each year due to occupational accidents or diseases worldwide, which equates to more than 6,000 deaths every day. Approximately 340 million occupational accidents and 160 million cases of occupational diseases are recorded worldwide each year. The confluence of technology with occupational safety and health is shaping the future of modern manufacturing. Innovations such as telemedicine, wearables, and data analytics are transforming employee well-being in the workplace and creating opportunities for a proactive approach to protecting workers’ health, increasing their productivity, and ensuring a healthier workforce.
