Maternal and child welfare is one of Russia’s top national priorities. As a result of systemic measures to protect mothers and children as well as an integrated approach and active government support, maternal mortality rates are steadily declining, while infant mortality in Russia reached an all-time low in 2023. Enhancing the quality of medical care as well as developing social programmes to support families and improve the overall demographic situation in the country are among the most important factors in ensuring the preservation of the population and implementing the new federal project ‘Maternal and Child Welfare’, which aims to further strengthen the health of mothers and children. What innovative technologies and practices in perinatal and podiatric medicine do leading medical institutions in Russia use? What new approaches to organizing medical care for mothers and children will be widely used in all Russian regions in the near future? How will an integrated approach affect maternal and child welfare?
